ALCOHOL COMPLIANCE ANALYST

DrinkPAK is seeking a highly skilled Alcohol Compliance Analyst to facilitate its regulatory programs and activities related to alcohol beverage production and operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state and international laws, industry codes, and company policies.

 

LOCATION The position is based at DrinkPAK's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

TEAM The Alcohol Compliance Analyst will report to the Director of Quality.

TYPE Full Time; Salary / Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads activities supporting spirit-making and operations compliance functions covered by government regulations across facilities and/or lines of business. 

Reconciles bulk and finished goods inventories; prepares, signs, and submits monthly reports to regulatory agencies as an Attorney-In-Fact for the Company.

Maintains licenses and permits, plant registrations, and bonds as applicable.

Maintains compliance related databases, files, records and documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Identifies, coordinates and participates with management in the resolution of non-compliance situations.

Initiates, drives, and collaborates cross-functionally to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders and cross functional business partners to respond to compliance questions, develop conclusions, provide feedback, and achieve shared objectives.

Leads/participates in complex related government interaction and compliance activities within the organization and at contract facilities during and after inspections, or during regulatory actions initiated by government agencies.

Independently and objectively researches, analyzes and interprets federal and state regulations to ensure compliance of transactions. Identifies compliance gaps and coordinates cross functionally to identify scalable solutions to remediate.

Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. 

Participates in professional training to cross-functional partners on federal, state, and international alcohol beverage and tax laws.

Prepares reports, situational analysis, and solution proposals to management related to winery operations and activities.

Reviews proposed activities by spirit- making and operations to determine potential risk to the organization, advises and presents to management on such issues. This includes analyzing and interpreting complex regulatory rules involving new products/processes and/or changes to existing products/processes. 

Participates in the development of department procedures, best practices and performance measures.

Develop and deliver regulatory compliance end user training to new team members as well as cross functional teams.

Identify, communicate, and develop recommendations to mitigate regulatory risk with contingency planning, including corrective or preventive action.

Responsible for clear, transparent, effective communication about complex issues.

Ensure processes and procedures for each business process meets regulatory requirements providing direction and assistance in the development of actual workflows where needed.

Translate regulatory information with appropriate technical depth for the given audience and provide balanced regulatory assessment.

Conducts special business-related studies projects as requested, planning and overseeing to ensure completion in a timely fashion, engaging Legal Counsel and informing stakeholders of milestones.

Conduct special financial and business-related studies or projects unsupervised.

Engages in proactive influencing of regulatory decision making.

Assist with special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree plus experience in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, government administration, food science, chemistry, winemaking, spirits making, or finance/accounting/auditing; OR High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 3 years of regulatory compliance experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

• Skilled in the basic use of MS Word and MS Excel.

• Experience in document research and review, document filing with local authorities.

• Reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and/or governmental regulations.

• Effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

• Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.

• Interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

• Ability to self-start, prioritize and meet strict deadlines while maintaining good judgement and professional relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree plus experience in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, food science, chemistry, life sciences, winemaking, or auditing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

• Knowledge of and experience with applying the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of this field of specialization.

• Experienced in applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis. 

• Applying established procedures to situations that are non-routine in nature requiring evaluation, originality or ingenuity.

• Working on multiple projects at one time and organizing them appropriately.

• Completing assignments that are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.

QUALITY SUPERVISOR

DrinkPAK is seeking an experienced Quality Supervisor that will assist with management and implementation of our company’s quality control systems to assure the quality of manufactured products. 

 

LOCATION The position is based at DrinkPAK's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

TEAM The Quality Supervisor will report to the Director of Quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and direct Quality Assurance Technicians/auditors who are responsible for enforcing good manufacturing practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.

• Review production batch records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.

• Review quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.

• Follow up with implemented programs (good manufacturing practices, good hygiene practices, HACCP, allergen control, cleaning and sanitation, pest control, equipment calibration, organic certification, etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility.

• Assist in the coordination of testing results involving finished products, raw materials, and packaging components and the appropriate release and hold programs associated with these materials.

• Oversee the “On Hold” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected”products.

• Assist in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.

• Make proactive recommendations and offering/presenting solutions to the Quality Systems & Regulatory Compliance Department management to improve quality and work efficiency.

• Share knowledge, skills, and information with other personnel in the Quality Systems & Regulatory

• Compliance Department and across functional areas.

• Assist in the implementation of policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs which ensure proper testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support to meet product quality standards.

• Participate in all regulatory, third party and customer audits and inspections, and corrective action response.

• Ensure good performance by quality assurance technicians/auditors by mentoring, training, setting expectations, providing accountability, and performing evaluations.

• Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses the business objectives, but also balances quality of work-life factors for employees.

• Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings.

• Bachelor’s degree of science preferably in Food Science or related field (Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.).

• At least (3) years of experience in Beverage Industry.

• Strong knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, preferably 21CFR Part 117, and food safety.

• Good understanding of quality testing within the food and beverage industry to include analytical, microbiological, and sensory evaluation. 

• Ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines (overtime work required) and make effective decisions.

• Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications) and computer-based applications).

• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to details.

• Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.

• Must be able to effectively communicate ideas (verbally and in writing), be a self-starter and handle difficult reporting situations.

INVENTORY CONTROL CLERK

DrinkPAK is seeking an Inventory Control Clerk to execute all daily inbound/outbound inventory and receiving tasks.

 

LOCATION The position is based at DrinkPAK's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

TEAM The Inventory Control Clerk will report to the Senior Inventory Manager.

TYPE Full Time; Salary / Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Processes all recycle, RMA’s and destruction loads.

• Receives all inbound orders into Drink Pak’s WMS system including, raw materials, packaging items, UPS, FEDEX and finished goods.

• Rebuilds damaged pallets prior to restocks.

• Consolidates finished goods, and raw material storage for maximum storage capabilities.

• Verifies and inspects quality of all inbounds, and reports quality issues immediately to appropriate team member

• Off loads all loads received.

• Ensures all finished goods, raw materials and sub-assembly components are maintained as per established guidelines and procedures.

• Coordinates with all involved parties to ensure accurate inbound receipts.

• Responsible for verifying true time inventory transaction records in the company’s system.

• Completes systematic transactions of material movements from Receiving into Inventory, WIP or Non-Conforming inventories.

• Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all inventories by performing daily, monthly, quarterly audits and by maintaining a comprehensive Cycle Count program.

• Compiles reports by SKU, quantities, inventory locations, and validates systematic inventories against physical counts to investigate and adjust errors in computation or counts and reports reasons for discrepancies.

• Maintains and computes inventory balances by running and preparing reports of inventory balances, shortages, and discrepancies.

• Organizes warehouse for efficient storage and material distribution per supervisor instructions.

• Expired inventory disposition identification (SLOB).

• Maintains product rotation and storage disciplines (FIFO/FEFO).

• Interacts and maintains positive relationships with all levels of leadership.

• Accomplishes special projects and other assignments/duties as required by management.

• Compliant to all safety rules and regulations, GMP’s and all DrinkPak’s policies and procedures.

• Establishes and maintains high standards for quality, housekeeping and productivity.

SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT

DrinkPAK is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to manage all aspects of the company’s routine GL operations with involvement in annual audits, annual and periodic tax reporting, and ongoing deliverables as it relates to banking relationships, forecasting, and variance analysis.

 

LOCATION The position is based at DrinkPAK's headquarters in Santa Clarita, California.

TEAM The Senior Staff Accountant will report to the Vice President of Finance and will manage the company’s Jr. Staff Accountant.

TYPE Full Time; Salary / Exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES

This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

• Oversee month-end financial close (i.e. administer close schedule, reconcile general ledger accounts, analyze account discrepancies, etc.) and produce error-free financial reports.  

• Interact with other departments to confirm proper execution of routine daily transactions (i.e. receipt of goods, AR invoicing, AP invoicing, trade spend confirmation and analysis, freight reconciliation, cash applications, production entries, concur expense reporting, co-op tracking and reconciliations, etc.).  

• Support Finance team by preparing analytical tools such as sales analyses, customer profitability reports and P&L statements, trend reports, etc.  

• Supervise Jr. Staff Accountant in carrying out monthly financial tasks (i.e. bank reconciliation, freight reconciliation, e-commerce activity, accruals, etc.) and review their work to ensure accuracy.  

• Develop and catalog procedures and accounting policies to maintain and enhance the company’s internal control framework.  

• Work with VP of Finance to review & implement improvements to accounting systems and procedures for increased efficiency.  

• Assist with financial audits – create schedules, assign audit request tasks by department, consolidate, analyze, and submit work papers to audit firm.  

• Assist with tax return preparations and semi-annual bank audits.  

• Manage states’ sales and use tax filings in addition to bottle bill reporting.  

• Perform ad hoc assignments and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.  

• 3+ years of accounting experience, with CPG industry strongly preferred.

• Experience with Sage ERP 100, MAS 90, SAP, or other similar ERP accounting software.

• Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively communicate with external and internal stakeholders. 

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Proven ability to work to strict deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
